 Dear Student/Parent
First of all I would like to welcome you to the Kubotan Karate Club where we practice the traditional form of karate known as Wado Ryu.
This is a part time martial arts club with a fully qualified instructor who holds a full coaching award and CRB check.
The instructor Jason Hayward,has trained with many of the top British and European karate instructors.
The club is a registered member of the Welsh Karate Kai affiliated to the Welsh Karate Governing Body,the European Karate Federation,the World Karate Federation,the Olympic Committee and is also fully recognised by the Sports Council for Wales.
Training costs and charges for 2009/10 £3-00 per session (monthly fees available) After 2 weeks ALL students MUST be licenced in order to proceed. £25-00 Annual Licence.
Gradings:- Gradings are conducted every 4 months and are completed over a two day event. Gradings will normally be held in March,July and November,but are subject to change due to the intense calender of events throughout the year. Equipment. Students may start training in any loose clothing but after 6 weeks will be expected to wear traditional karate uniform (white gi only) with a club badge and mitts.
ALL SUITS AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT CAN BE PURCHASED THROUGH THE CLUB.
There are no restrictions on age(from 5 years),gender,colour or religion, however the students ability to receive instruction is paramount.Any student who becomes disruptive in class will not be welcome. Dojo etiquette and the karate-do regime of training requires the students to perform kneeling and standing bows,any student who is unable or unwilling to perform these tasks should not train.
The instructor retains the right to cease any student`s tuition without reimbursement of any fees.
Should it become necessary parents are cordially invited to spectate at classes,but are requested not to distract the students whilst they are training.
No photographic,video,camcorder or visual recording equipment of any type may be used without the express permission of the instructor. Any adult in attendance at class session who is not known to the instructor will be challenged.
As in all contact sports,a certain amount of contact is likely in order to learn these fighting skills,so expect a few bumps or bruises. Injury can be to a minimum by correct training and the use of protective equipment such as mitts, shin pads and gum shields.
EVERY STUDENT WILL BE EXPECTED TO PURCHASE THIS EQUIPMENT, NO STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO SPAR/FIGHT UNTIL LICENCED.
